To Be A Good Man
(Poetry for Fathers and Sons Day)
Sri Ganesha will take you to the Heart
Hanuman gives you strength to stand apart.
Apart from the rabble, and apart from the gang,
Be part of the Universe, the great AUM – God sang.
To be a good man means to be able to stand up alone.
It means to be true, to your true Self, a lone.
To have your own wisdom, and a truth that’s your own.
To handle those learnings as you become grown.
It means to bear, the responsibility with others.
It means taking care, mothers, sisters, and brothers.
And it means to care most for the children of all,
and so be that one who will answer the call.
To be good a man means being brave and true
To stand up to the bully, if there’s a need to.
It means off to war, where we might have to die
If that war is necessary, to fight a great Lie.
To be a good man then is to do the best that you can.
To use your time well and to make a good plan.
To measure twice and to cut only once.
To develop your wisdom, and not be a dunce.
To be a good man is to have both a heart and head
To balance the two and become one instead
To become a friend to many, but belong only to you
To be your own man, to your own Self, be true.
To be a good man is to do, the best that you can do.
And to surrender the rest, to you know Who,
To be a good man means to be your own Guru.
To know that man in the mirror, is really the best of you.
So to be a good man
is the hardest, and bestest, thing you can be.
To become the Spirit, the God-Self in thee
Is to be a grand-son, a disciple, of Shri Mataji.
So Now please your Self, the God-Self in you.
Because your Spirit will know what next you should do.
