Prologue – or How I came to write this book, this way.

The Birthing of a Book about God can be a messy business.

Like a jigsaw puzzle, bits arrive in dizzy disarray, and if they go in, and where they go, is quite uncertain to begin with. That which I thought to include as a very short story, possibly at the end, is becoming a frontispiece and whole chapter and reference story within the rest of this book, tentatively titled: “GOD IS – at your fingertips”.

The Universe informed me of the necessity of putting my personal story into this book as central, by way of a quite spontaneous and serendipitous conversation with a stranger, over lunch. His name was Renee and somehow he knew he was there to communicate this message.

Colleen and I were out for a quick lunch at a local garden café called the Pickled Poet. After getting settled, a personable younger man, (under 50 years!) began an amiable and animated conversation with us about food and cooking and life. Colleen as many will attest is an interested and accomplished cook. She has a dedicated set of bookshelves for her cookery and for well over 25 years is always finding new ways to interest my waistline in the next course.

After a few minutes Renee revealed he was a university tutor in writing, with a focus on scripts, directing and producing. Its an area I’m also interested in and before long I was telling him of a great short story by Herman Hesse called The Indian Life. It was a story that figured largely in my Seeking days and one that should become a great movie. I also conceded that I was a writer and had begun creating book-notes for this work. I mentioned what I was currently writing I thought would likely be a text or teaching book, of learnings, paradigms, practices, experiences and understandings about GOD, and mystic spirituality, and Kundalini Sahaja Yoga. Also some poetry and stuff about the higher yogic states, closest to God.

Renee went very quiet and said “I must be here to tell you this, but look…” and then went on to explain with some pains to point out that certainly, whilst such insights may be of interest to seekers, scholars and yogis, it was not likely to captivate nearly as much interest with the wider populace, as an account of a personal life story, and one’s journey into experiential Spirituality. He said in effect “such a book would be missing its spine”, if it failed to include the context and personal journey experiences that helped yield the insights and inspirations to be shared.

So dear readers I am now writing a new section and chapters about my personal journey in this book for you, in the hope you find it of interest and value. Likewise the chapter with poetry and ultimately the chapters about Yogic programs, practices and paradigms will be rewritten and repositioned towards the back. (July 2022)
