Mooladhara Chakra – the basics
Christ said that unless you be as little children you cannot enter the Kingdom. Shri Mataji says He also said “Thou shalt not have adulterous eyes”
The qualities of Innocence and Wisdom are the quality of the Mooladhara chakra. The personification of these qualities are seen in the deity of Shri Ganesha, who has the body of child and the head of an elephant. (He also has an only brother, Shri Kartikeya who looks after the Right side of Mooladhara chakra.)
The Mooladhara chakra sits below the triangular Sacrum bone which houses the Kundalini. A damaged, undeveloped or imbalanced Mooladhara means the Kundalini is not ideally supported for sustained awakening and Self-Realisation and thus impedes Yoga in all the chakras, particularly the Sahasra, and the higher chakras. Shri Mataji explains the divine qualities are eternal and exist forever and cannot be destroyed, however they may be undermined and suppressed and ultimately they withdraw if the aspiration for spiritual progress and purification is unfelt. Shri Mataji has said “If you want to go to heaven we can go. If you want to go to hell we can go.”
The Mooladhara Chakra has been explained in depth by Shri Mataji, its 4 major petals, their accompanying qualities and the progressive unfoldment. Within the blue box Her original sketch has been reproduced, with a looking from top downwards perspective. The full manifestation of these 4 chakra petals we can suggest is the ideal, and represents Christ Consciousness. There is also MahaGanesha manifestation at the rear of the brain, or back Agnya chakra, (includes visual cortex) also associated with the place of Christ. (MahaVishnu) At the third eye, the optic chasma, is the “narrow gate” which must be passed through as the Kundalini facilitates our spiritual ascent. Forgiveness, and Humility before the Reality of God, are required in order to keep the Agnya open.
The 4 petals are shown as Front, Rear, Left and Right looking down from above internally. Their layout reveals a Cross, a Swatstika, and an Aumkara when viewed from different directions. The “Involution” from transcendent super-subtle-source down into immanent gross physical materiality is seen in the 4 petal Carbon atom, the basic-building-block of Creation. The Kundalini is the Power of Pure Desire for “Evolution” and She does all the Living Work that has created us. This Created Universe exists in a matrix of Time-Space and Energy-Matter that can be illustrated in 4 petal configuration too.
For our purposes here it is informative to see where and how the petals represent different types of quality, empowerment and manifestation. Its possible to have a bias or Vritti in our personal temperaments and so some qualities and powers may be deficient or damaged. These powers may be invoked and re-established through practices, prayers, pujas and affirmations. The reality of the Mooladhara and the functions it governs and supports must be in balance, neither tortured or abused or misused, but integrated in a wholesome, healthy, dharmic and blessed life.
(NB Pavan has drawn some artistic impressions and associations around the blue box. In our subtle body, the three and a half coils begin at Mooladhara and in their arcs pass through the 7 major chakras. The two major higher chakras above Sahasrara are Ardha Bindu (deity Adi Shakti) and Bindu (deity Sada Shiva) and the unmanifest source realm of ParaBrahma is beyond these at the ‘level’ of Valaya.)
